TESS Hunt for Young and Maturing Exoplanets (THYME). VI. An 11 Myr Giant Planet Transiting a Very-low-mass Star in Lower Centaurus Crux

چکیده

Mature super-Earths and sub-Neptunes are predicted to be $\simeq$Jovian radius when younger than 10 Myr. Thus, we expect find 5-15$R_\oplus$ planets around young stars even if their older counterparts harbor none. We report the discovery validation of TOI 1227 b, a $0.85\pm0.05R_J$ (9.5$R_\oplus$) planet transiting very low-mass star ($0.170\pm0.015M_\odot$) every 27.4 days. TOI~1227's kinematics strong lithium absorption confirm it is member previously discovered sub-group in Lower Centaurus Crux OB association, which designate Musca group. derive an age 11$\pm$2 Myr for Musca, based on lithium, rotation, color-magnitude diagram members. The TESS data ground-based follow-up show deep (2.5\%) transit. use multiwavelength transit observations radial velocities from IGRINS spectrograph validate signal as planetary nature, obtain upper limit mass $\simeq0.5 M_J$. Because such large exceptionally rare mature stars, suggest that b still contracting will eventually turn into one more common $<5R_\oplus$ planets.

transiting extrasolar giant planet around the star OGLE - TR - 10

We report a transiting extrasolar giant planet around the star OGLE-TR-10 (orbital period = 3.1 days), which was uncovered as a candidate by the OGLE team in their photometric survey towards the Galactic center (Udalski et al. 2002a). We observed OGLE-TR-10 spectroscopically over a period of two years (2002–2004) using the HIRES instrument with an iodine cell on the Keck I telescope, and measur...

SALT observations of the Chromospheric Activity of Transiting Planet Hosts: Mass Loss and Star Planet Interactions

We measured the chromospheric activity of the four hot Jupiter hosts WASP-43, WASP-51/HAT-P-30, WASP-72 & WASP-103 to search for anomalous values caused by the close-in companions. The Mount Wilson Ca ii H&K S -index was calculated for each star using observations taken with the Robert Stobie Spectrograph at the Southern African Large Telescope. The activity level of WASP-43 is anomalously high...

Models of very-low-mass stars, brown dwarfs and exoplanets

Within the next few years, GAIA and several instruments aiming to image extrasolar planets will be ready. In parallel, low-mass planets are being sought around red dwarfs, which offer more favourable conditions, for both radial velocity detection and transit studies, than solar-type stars. In this paper, the authors of a model atmosphere code that has allowed the detection of water vapour in th...

A Transiting Planet of a Sun-like Star

A planet transits an 11 magnitude, G1V star in the constellation Corona Borealis. We designate the planet XO-1b, and the star, XO-1, also known as GSC 02041-01657. XO-1 lacks a trigonometric distance; we estimate it to be 200±20 pc. Of the ten stars currently known to host extrasolar transiting planets, the star XO-1 is the most similar to the Sun in its physical characteristics: its radius is ...
